The Q Gets A New Windshield

Picked up a rock or something driving on the turnpike – it cracked across my view on the drivers side right across the center of the driver view. The fun part is all the parts for this 25 year old hooptie are discontinued in the good old USA. I ordered all the parts from Japan from two different suppliers. This was not a cheap fix. Before I found out all the parts were not available, I did call Safelight and they scheduled me in but once I got there after waiting 3.5 weeks, they had nothing, no glass and no seals, nothing – and no call to tell me. So I got my PDR tech, Dave, to give me Nick from Palm Beach Auto Glass phone number and Nick got it done. He found an OEM windshield and modified the seal. The seal that came from Japan was actually broken from a manufacturing defect. I am lucky to find parts for this 25 year old car. Nick did a great job. The new seal had to be precision cut to allow the window to be installed. You only get once chance to get it right.

The broken one below…

I am still trying to find rear window seals – the originals are shot and passing air now. Both my Japan suppliers don’t have them. I am thinking there has to be a crossover part. Still checking. In Japan the Q45 was called a CIMA and is the same vehicle. Also known as a Y33.

No body kit like the Wald kit above and this Wald kit looks great. I had my hooptie below with the center caps off for repairs and no body kit… This Wald Y33 looks great above…
