Re-dying a center console I picked up in the Lexus Ecru color. My LS430 color is Cashmere. I completed a test console a few weeks ago with a different supplier and air brushed Cashmere. I noticed even after a decent prep that I experienced dye adhesion issues. Then I found a new supplier with a product that has better dye wear and no dye transfer with their product line.

Ecru color above which is the lighter LS430 interior color and only on the UL or Ultra Luxury model – I picked this part up online and it was in generally good shape in the photos. When I started cleaning the armrest, this armrest was possibly previously repaired and the cleaning process transfered dye to my microfiber. The new product line I am using does not transfer dye even with alcohol cleaners.

Above is the Ecru after cleaning with a mild degreaser and 50% alcohol.

Above I repaired some cracking and damaged area with the leather glue then sanded with 600.

I am really liking this new product line better than the first one I was using. The color I thought is even a closer OEM match than the previous supplier, or so I thought. What I have found is that a 20 year old vehicle will have faded interior due to UV. Anyway the air brush is handling the product just as well as the first supplier brand. My new second supplier sent me a modified version of Cashmere. It seems to be working out closer to what is currently in the car. Not a perfect match but very close. I still have some finish coats to complete. This above is 3 to 4 coats using my air brush and the results are better than my first attempt using this new supplier. Thx for looking.
